What we are reading this week:
Lo que estamos leyendo esta semana:
We are excited to recommend Mockingbird by Kathryn Erskine this week! This young adult (YA) book is about a 10 year old girl named Caitlin Smith with Asperger's syndrome and her journey of healing after the death of her brother in a school shooting. She is an avid artist and is often preoccupied with dictionaries. She struggles to understand her feelings about what happened and sees the world in black and white. She meets other survivors of the tragedy and joins them on their journey of healing. The story ends with a feeling of hope for the characters and a look towards a world seen in color, instead of monochrome.
