Art For OWL
Can Fire in the Park is an oil on canvas painting by American Modernist painter, Beauford Delaney. The piece was completed in 1946 and attempts to explore the Depression-era realities that many African-Americans faced. The canvas’ vibrating energy and expressive rhythms assert that homelessness and poverty were a part of contemporary life for many African-Americans after World War II.
