Art For OWL
(content warning: state violence)
The mural Tlatelolco, lugar del sacrificio (Tlatelolco, place of sacrifice) was created by Canadian-Mexican painter Arnold Belkin and presented in his retrospective exhibition, entitled Arnold Belkin: 33 Years of Artistic Production. The piece is an acrylic on canvas made up of three main sections: The Omens: The Fall of Tenochtitlán (1521); The Three Cultures, The Earthquake (1985); and at the center, recognizing the centrality of the event in the history of modern Mexico, The Massacre of the Students (1968).
