New Work from ABC summer camps!
We are excited to celebrate a very talented ABC writer, Chisom Okoye, who has done a lot of writing with us this year! Chisom writes wonderful stories, from fantasy to fanfiction! Here is an excerpt from Chisom's story in the ABC 2021 Anthology entitled, "Into the Forest”:
"While walking on the yellow brick road she looks at the trees which give an eerie feel to her. The tree branches look like boney arms trying to reach her. Out of all the scariness she sees a group of white flowers, calling for her to pick them. She quietly walked over to the flowers and squatted down. She removed a small knife from the basket cutting the flowers and was about to put them in the basket. She turned around to see a squirrel holding the crackers.
“Hey boy…..or girl.” she says, holding out her hand with an acorn in it. The squirrel just
stared at her and slowly walked toward her. “That’s it.” she whispered, encouraging the squirrel. The moment the squirrel got close she reached out for the cracker bag but, it probably knew something was wrong and scurried away from her."
Art For OWL
This painting, entitled “Little Blue Horse,” was painted by Franz Marc in 1912, made for Walterchen, the son of his friend and colleague August Macke, a fact that the inscription at his top right demonstrates. In 1956, the museum director Rudolf Bornschein acquired the painting for the Saarbrücker Stadt-und Heimatmuseum, which in 1968 merged with the Moderne Galerie.
