Welcome to our new Executive Director, Richard Santos!
We are so excited to welcome our new Austin Bat Cave Executive Director, Richard Santos. Here is a message from Richard about joining our ABC community:
“ABC has always been one of my favorite organizations in town because they help students express themselves through storytelling, find their voice through advocacy, and build self-confidence through sharing their work.
There are so many exciting things in Bat Cave's future: a new Anthology, more adult classes featuring amazing instructors, new youth programs, and much more.
But for now we'll be helping those who need it most. We're going to spend the next week gathering and distributing donations and doing whatever we can to help. I'm joining a staff that cares about the community and works tirelessly to make the world a better place. I couldn't be happier or luckier!”

What we are reading this week:
Lo que estamos leyendo esta semana
This week we are excited to recommend Charlotte’s Web by E.B .White! Eight-year-old Fern Arable is devastated when she hears that her father is going to kill the runt of his pig’s new litter. Persuading him that the piglet has a right to life and promising to look after it, she saves the animal and names him Wilbur. When Wilbur becomes too large, Fern is forced to sell him to her uncle, Homer Zuckerman, whose barn is filled with animals who shun the newcomer. When Wilbur discovers that he will soon be slaughtered for Christmas dinner, he is horribly distraught. Charlotte—the hairy barn spider who lives in the rafters above his sty—decides to help him, and as she does, they become good friends. This is a classic book about friendship, bravery and love that several generations can enjoy.
