Lo que estamos leyendo esta semana:
We are excited to recommend American Panda by Gloria Chao this week! At seventeen, Mei should be a high school student, but skipping fourth grade was part of her parents' master plan. She is now a freshman at MIT, on the path to fulfilling the rest of her pre-planned future: become a doctor, marry a Taiwanese Ivy Leaguer selected by her parents, produce a couple of babies. With everything her parents have sacrificed to make her cushy life a reality, Mei can't bring herself to tell them the truth. Firstly she hates germs, secondly she sleeps in her biology lectures, and thirdly she has a crush on her classmate Darren Takahashi, who is not Taiwanese. But when Mei reconnects with her brother, Xing, who is estranged from the family for dating the wrong woman, Mei starts to wonder if all the secrets are truly worth it. Can she find a way to be herself before all her lies begin to come apart?
