Austin Bat Cave Virtual Workshops!
Come join us for Freedom to Read, a virtual workshop teaching youth to advocate for their rights rights to read, and join us as our guest speakers Christine Granados, and Hedreich Nichols about their work as authors and community advocates fighting for Texas youth and student’s access to diverse books. In this workshop, you will learn how to craft testimonies about how this issue affects you and what actions you can take with these testimonies, including sharing them with local and state school and library boards and other state representatives. This workshop is for students in Texas in grades 8th-12th and is free to participate in.
Here is the link to sign up for the workshop!
Scare and Be Scared Author Panel and Workshop
We had such a great time with our panel of horror writers, Tonia Ransom, Trevor Henderson and Adrianna Cuevas and learning how to write two-sentence horror stories with author and instructor Ryan Bradley in the Scare and Be Scared panel and workshop on Saturday!

Art For OWL
This photo represents a day that has passed but is still very important. Dia de los muertos, also known as the day of the dead. It’s a holiday celebrated around November 1st. Its a day where people honor there departed family members. It celebrates not only death but also life. People make ofrendas for honor of there family members, and make meals with them as all the family comes and sits with them to have a meal as if they’re still alive. This holiday is celebrated across Latin America.

What we are reading this week
This week we are recommending Anne Dewdney’s Llama Llama Red Pajama. Baby Llama turns bedtime into an all-out llama drama in this rhyming read-aloud favorite! This is a good book for students 4 years-10 years old but is a fun read for the whole family.
