Art For OWL
“Gender Bending Fashion” at Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts explores how fashion sculpts our ideas about gender identity. The exhibition pulls apart the ties that bind traditional notions of masculine and feminine style that challenge that binary. It features looks from top designers and outfits worn by celebrities, including Marlene Dietrich, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, and Young Thug while attending to the ways in which LGBTQ visibility and the rise of social media have shaped new possibilities for self-expression.

La exposición rompe las nociones tradicionales de estilo masculino y femenino desafiando ese sistema binario. La preresentación muestra looks de los mejores diseñadores y atuendos usados por celebridades, incluidos Marlene Dietrich, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix y Young Thug, mientras presta atención a las formas en que la visibilidad LGBTQ y el auge de las redes sociales han dado forma a nuevas posibilidades para la autoexpresión.
