Quote of the month

George Washington, our first president, said, “I had always hoped that this land might become a safe and agreeable Asylum to the virtuous and persecuted part of mankind, to whatever nation they might belong.” Even now, this is true. America has, and always will be, a home of immigrants.
Art for OWL

Andy Warhol was an American artist well known for his paintings, including the Campbell’s Soup Cans series. It’s made up of thirty-two canvases, each consisting of a painting of the canned soup varieties the company offered at the time. These paintings are still discussed and had a significant impact on the world of pop art.
What we’re reading this month
The Menagerie by Tui T. Sutherland and Kari H. Sutherland

In the small town of Xanadu, Wyoming lies the Menagerie, a top secret facility filled with unicorns, dragons, phoenixes, and other fairy tale creatures. At least, it was a secret—until six griffin cubs escaped. If Logan and Zoe don’t get the cubs back fast, the entire Menagerie will be shut down. The race is on, and the resulting adventure is only the beginning of a thrilling series perfect for children eight to thirteen. Tui T. Sutherland, one of the authors, is also the author of the Wings of Fire series.
