Art for OWL
The Child’s Bath (1893) is an impressionist oil painting by American artist Mary Cassatt. The painting reinforces Cassat’s signature subject: portrayals of mothers and children caught in everyday moments.

What we are reading this week
We are proud to recommend The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. It follows a young boy who takes an apple from a tree. The tree and boy are both happy but then the boy does not visit the tree anymore. When he does again, he asks for money and the tree, having no money, gives him her apples, then branches, then trunk until there is nothing but the stump to sit on. This well known classic is beautifully illustrated and filled with a story of moral value. It is great for children.
